Day Trips to Monuriki Island - Location of the "Cast Away" movie

SEE THE NATURAL FILM SET OF THE MOVIE "CAST AWAY" - ONLY A BOAT RIDE AWAY FROM CASTAWAY ISLAND, FIJI.

The movie Cast Away, starring Tom Hanks was filmed on Monuriki, one of the Mamanuca Islands. It is in a subgroup of the Mamanuca archipelago, which is only a luxury speed boat ride away on our beautiful pleasure craft - the "Teivovo". Monuriki, an uninhabited small island, became a tourist attraction following the film's release however has been enjoyed by the traditional Fijian owners for an aeon. The boys in the boatshed at Castaway Island, Fiji can organise day trips to Monuriki.

Monuriki is located 18km due NW of Castaway. We offer Island Hops on board Teivovo (Fiji’s fastest speed boat) which takes you close to Monuriki Island. After visiting three nearby islands, we make a stop just off Monuriki island for a snorkel. Prior approval is sought from the traditional landowners owners being the people of Yanuya island, before setting foot on this piece of parradise.

ONE PADDLE REMAINING OF THE ORIGINAL "CAST AWAY" RAFT NOW DISPLAYED AT OUR LALI BAR.

The entire raft used in the movie was secured by the island and floated a few metres off shore for some time. The natural elements eventually had their way with the raft and now the only remains are the paddle proudly displayed at our Lali Bar. If you're a Cast Away movie fan, why not  live the adventure for yourself. We'll take you for a spin right past the island, go for a snorkel close by and then return for the real Castaway Island experience.
